Family & kid friendly safaris

A family safari is an excellent way to introduce your children to nature and wildlife without having to worry about them becoming bored on a traditional safari tour. Family safaris are designed to keep the excitement of seeing wildlife and birds alive and interactive for all members of the family.

Getting the most out of your vacation investment requires planning an itinerary that will keep your children alert and enthralled throughout your trip. That is precisely what we can provide.

When planning a family safari for children, we know which activities to include and which to leave out in order to maximize wildlife sightings while also keeping kids engaged and entertained.

Safari for children under the age of five

A safari is not recommended for infants or children under the age of five. The majority of establishments aren’t designed for infants or toddlers, and the heat and dusty game drives may make your baby feel very uneasy.

On a family safari in Tanzania, less is more.

We divide the day into two parts when planning family safaris. Your guide will focus on wild cats and other interesting larger wildlife during an early-morning game drive to pique your children’s interest. During the drive, the guide will be able to interact with and involve the children, keeping their attention. We recommend that you keep driving distances as short as possible or at the very least, break up the day with some interesting stops to keep the kids interested and happy.

We introduce an activity that takes place outside the vehicle during the second half of the day. A short walk, an animal footprint identification session, or a game-tracking activity are all excellent ways to pique people’s interest. Cultural experiences are excellent safari activities for both children and adults, and they provide a refreshing change of pace.

On a family safari, how to keep the kids engaged

Teach your children how to use binoculars and allow them to search for animals and birds with them. Animal and bird checklists are provided to assist the children in making lists of what they have seen and what they are still looking for.

Combine your wildlife safari with some beach time for the whole family to swim and play. Tanzania has a plethora of wonderful beach options, and we can easily incorporate a trip to the beach into your family safari.

Options for lodging and dining for a safari with children

Buffet accommodations are always a family safari favorite because they allow kids to eat and drink whatever they want (and as much as they want), keeping their spirits up and bellies full. A la carte dining is a bit restricting for children, as it only provides them with a limited number of food options.

Every family is unique. Speak with us, and we’ll create the best family safari experience for you and your kids.
