ENTRY REQUIREMENT TO ZANZIBAR – MANDATORY INBOUND TRAVEL INSURANCE.

Looking Forward that, following the implementation of the new insurance policy which commenced from 1st day of October 2024, the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar has been able to serve the purpose by providing coverage and protection to all foreigners excluding residents, holding work permits and cabin crew during their stay in Zanzibar and Tanzania Mainland. This requirement is being mainly implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of all foreigners to the respective period of 92 days.

General Rule: Visitors traveling to Zanzibar obliged to comply with Mandatory Inbound Travel Insurance prior arriving in Zanzibar to be covered for the duration of their stay. The insurance must be obtained from the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) via https://visitzanzibar.go.tz and a certificate with QR Code must be presented upon arrival for scanning and verification.

Exceptional Rule: without prejudice; for those foreigners/visitors coming from countries which have restrictions on making online payments, are allowed to travel to/visit Zanzibar subject to prior application and make payment on arrival.

Whereas, for those who are unable to apply or to complete their applications due to logical reasons including but not limited to accessibility of the system; are allowed to travel to/visit Zanzibar subject to application and make payment on arrival.
