CONSOLATHA- LUPEMBE PRE AND PRIMARY SCHOOL.

Consolatha- Lupembe pre and primary school is among the private school located in Njombe district. The school is at Lupembe ward about 74 kilometers from Njombe town. The school offer better quality education to children from four years to fourteen years of age. It is a day and boarding school using English language as a medium of instruction.

Consolatha-Lupembe Pre and Primary School was started in February 2014 after its founders had moved to Lupembe, an interior part of Tanzania. Having not found any English-medium school to which the founders could send their children, they realized there was a dire need for affordable, better quality pre and primary education for children between the ages of four to fourteen in Lupembe. However, the founders decided to use this need as an opportunity and began the establishment of this school at rented building. After positive respond from parents towards the school, the founder began the construction of the school the same year so as to make it legalized. 

At Consolatha Lupembe Pre and Primary School we welcome volunteers to support the work of the school and to support those wishing to gain experience in a school activities.

All volunteers at Consolatha Lupembe Pre & Primary School will be made to feel valued and welcome. The types of activities that volunteers are engaged in include:

  • Doing sport activities with children
  • Participating in children extracurricular such as gardening and livestock keeping.
  • Working with small groups of children 
  • Listening to children read
  • Working alongside individual children within the classroom
  • Accompanying school visits 
  • Working in other school projects such as pineapple farm, avocado farm and cassava project
  • Visiting local community around Lupembe area.

Typical day

Your day starts around 7 am. The Consolatha Lupembe School is located in Ivanginyi Street. From the main road it is 1km on gravel roads, until you reach the school grounds. You can walk from our volunteer house to the school or use a school bus. Regular class time is 8:00 to 15:40 from Monday to Friday and 8:00 to 12:00 on Saturday.

During the day you may have some teaching activities, English reading session and extracurricular with children. You may also have discussion session with teachers concerning on how to improve our teaching and learning environment for better result to our children.

Some days you will visit our school farm which is 40 Kms from school compound. At the farm you will get a chance to see pineapple, avocado, cassava and tree farming activities in Njombe.

During the evening you will get a chance to visit local communities, doing traditional dancing and visiting historical sites around Lupembe area.

Volunteer minimum period: 2 weeks

Price per person per week $ 450 ($65 per person per day)

This includes food and accommodation. Public transport from Arusha or Dar es salaam to Lupembe and back, 2 nights in Iringa bed and breakfast, (one night on your way to Lupembe and 1 night on your way back to Arusha or Dar es salaam) it also covers all the activities organized by school such as farm visit, local tourism and any outreach program. 

Private transport can as well be organized. In Public transport we will give you a local person to travel with you for your comfort.

 

The cost does not cover health issues, activities planned by volunteer or any item for personal use such as cigarette, alcohol, volunteer visa, Domestic or international flights.
